Police call for increased police numbers in Yamba
Saturdays incident in Yamba, which saw police pelted with bricks and bottles and
a police car burnt out, highlights the need for extra police in the region, the Police
Association of NSW said today.
Police Association of NSW Regional Executive member Tony King said both the
Yamba community and local police deserve the protection of a properly resourced
police force.
Incidents like this, where you have drunk idiots at a party with little respect for
police, clearly demonstrate that policing is becoming more and more dangerous,
and when you combine this with a lack of police numbers it is even more so.
This incident shows that the local Yamba community is right in its campaign for
more police numbers in the area.
Sadly these kind of incidents are becoming more prevalent on the North Coast.
Its high time something was done about it.
The local police and community dont care about government figures, they care
that they and their families have the protection of local police when they need it.
The government needs to make community safety a priority and put police where
theyre needed most.
