VETERANS’ AFFAIRS MINISTER TO DELIVER RIMAU DAY
& RESERVE FORCES DAY COMMEMORATIVE ADDRESS
The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Alan Griffin, will deliver a commemorative
address at the State War Memorial, Perth, on Sunday, for Rimau Day and
Reserve Forces Day.
During World War II, 23 members of the Z Special Unit lost their lives in Operation
Rimau, an attempt to take a small group behind enemy lines to attack Japanese
ships.
Reserve Forces Day marks the anniversary of the creation of the Colonial Military
Force in 1948 and recognises the service of all Australian Defence Force
reservists.
