COMMUNITY SERVICES HELPS RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY
BUSHFIRE
Bushfire affected residents around Mudgee had a safe place to stay last night thanks
to an evacuation centre established by Community Services.
The centre, set up at the Rural Education Centre in Yulan Road, has now closed.
Community Services State Disaster Welfare Recovery Centre Director, Wendy
Graham, said:
Nine people attended the centre throughout the night, where they were provided
with food and emergency accommodation, said Ms Graham.
Community Services staff worked with Red Cross, ADRA, the Salvation Army and
Anglicare to provide evacuees with the assistance they required.
Community Services plays a vital role in times of emergency in NSW, said Ms Graham.
Together with out community partners we provide people affected by disasters with
crucial support to help them get their lives back in order.
