Wollongong man charged with accessing child
abuse images


A 41-year-old Wollongong man has been charged with accessing child abuse
images over the internet and making child abuse images available.

He will appear in Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.

It will be alleged that during search warrants yesterday at a residential
address, Australian Federal Police officers found child abuse images.

The man has been charged with:

Using a carriage service to make child pornography material available,
contrary to section 474 of the Criminal Code Act 1995;

Using a carriage service to access child pornography material contrary to
section 474 of the Criminal Code Act 1995;

Transmitting child pornography material, contrary to section 474 of the
Criminal Code Act 1995; and

Possessing child pornography, contrary to section 91H of the Crimes Act
1900 (NSW).


The maximum penalty for these offences is 10 years imprisonment.
