VICTORIAN VETERANS PARTICIPATE IN RECORD NUMBERS
ART AND STORY WRITING COMPETITION
The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Alan Griffin, will be in Heidelberg West TOMORROW at the
official opening of the Victorian veterans’ 46th annual Story Writing and Art Competition
exhibition.
More than 700 entries have been received – a record number.
The competition began in 1962 as therapy for returned soldiers at the Heidelberg Repatriation
General Hospital and has since grown to include poetry, art, craft and photography. It continues
to serve as a creative outlet for veterans dealing with their wartime experiences.
This year’s competition includes a special category to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the
end of the First World War.
The Minister will be available for interview and photos with veterans who have entered the
competition.
