TWELVE QUEENSLAND STUDENTS TO BE PRESENTED WITH LONG TAN
BURSARIES

Twelve sons and daughters of Vietnam veterans will be awarded Long Tan Bursaries worth up
to $9000 tomorrow by the Minister for Veterans Affairs, Alan Griffin.
The twelve students will be in attendance with their families. Please note one student wishes to
remain anonymous.
Long Tan Bursaries will be presented to 53 students across the country in the coming weeks.
The bursaries recognise the difficulties children of Vietnam veterans may face. Educational
support has been shown to be effective in improving well-being and resilience to issues arising
from their parents service in Vietnam.
Minister Griffin and eleven recipients will be available for short interviews following the
presentation ceremony.
The students are studying at the following institutions:
University of Queensland;
James Cook University;
Queensland University of Technology;
Griffith University;
Central Queensland University;
Queensland Conservatoire of Ballet; and
Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
