SIXTEEN NSW AND ACT STUDENTS WIN SCHOLARSHIPS

Sixteen sons and daughters of Vietnam veterans will be awarded Long Tan Bursaries worth up
to $9000 tomorrow by the Minister for Veterans Affairs, Alan Griffin.
The students will be in attendance with their families. Please note three students wish to
remain anonymous.
Long Tan Bursaries are being awarded to 53 students across the country in 2008.
The bursaries recognise the difficulties children of Vietnam veterans may face. Educational
support has been shown to be effective in improving well-being and resilience to issues arising
from their parents service in Vietnam.
Minister Griffin and 13 recipients will be available for short interviews following the
presentation ceremony.
The students are studying at:
Newcastle University;
Wollongong University;
Macquarie University;
Latrobe University;
Sydney University;
Australian National University, Canberra; and
University of Western Sydney.
