SIR NINIAN STEPHEN AND SIR FRANK PACKER’S SECOND WORLD WAR
UNIT COMMEMORATED
The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Alan Griffin, will join Sir Ninian Stephen at a ceremony in
Sydney tomorrow to pay tribute to the servicemen of the Australian Army Water Transport Small
Ships and Landing Craft units.
Sir Ninian Stephen and Sir Frank Packer were part of the little known, but effective, Australian
Army water transport units during the Second World War.
A commemorative plaque honouring the unit’s service will be unveiled by former Governor-
General Sir Ninian Stephen.
