MINISTER ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR VETERANS’ HEALTH WEEK


The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Alan Griffin, will TOMORROW visit Sunnybank RSL to take

part in an indoor bowls game with local veterans and announce plans for Veterans’ Health

Week.  The re-instatement of Veterans’ Health Week delivers on an election commitment from

the Australian Government.


Activities promoting the health and wellbeing of the veteran community will be held across the

country during Veterans’ Health Week 24-30 August.


Mr Griffin said the theme of this year’s Veterans’ Health Week was physical activity –

encouraging members of the veteran community to think about their health and wellbeing and

take part in regular exercise to live a stronger, healthier and happier life.


Including regular exercise is important to maintain and improve health and wellbeing,

particularly for older members of the veteran community.  Health activities will be showcased

across the country during Veterans’ Health Week and will include activities such as walking

groups, team sports, stretching and yoga sessions and even laughter workshops.
