Inaugural meeting of Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network

Malaria specialists from around the world will take part in the inaugural meeting of the

Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network, announced by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at

the high-level Malaria Summit in New York in September 2008.


The network will help countries work together to develop and implement strategies to

eliminate malaria.


The network is coordinated by the Global Health Group at the University of California in San

Francisco, led by Sir Richard Feachem and the Pacific Malaria Initiative Support Centre at the

University of Queensland. 


Media are welcome to attend the opening addresses by Sir Richard Feachem from the

Global Health Group and Australia’s Parliamentary Secretary for International

Development Assistance, Bob McMullan.
