HEIDELBERG HERITAGE PROJECTS UNVEILED
The Minister for Veterans Affairs, Alan Griffin, will be in Heidelberg TOMORROW to unveil
three new commemorative projects at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital as part of its Veterans
Day Celebrations.
Mr Griffin will unveil the first piece of a stained glass window, marking the beginning of a four-
year, $100,000 project to install stained glass windows in the Heidelberg Chapel. He will also
unveil the bell tower, built to house the Heritage Bell donated by a veteran, and a renovated
flagpole which was donated by the Red Cross in the 1940s.
Funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the local veteran community and designed
by local artists, these projects will complement the rich heritage of Heidelberg Repatriation
Hospital and pay tribute to the veterans and war widows who have sought treatment here, Mr
Griffin said.
Project artists Simon Normand and Alison McMillan will be present at the unveiling along with
representatives from the veteran community who helped fund the projects.
Mr Griffin will be available for interview and photo opportunities following official proceedings.
