Heart Foundation Local Government Awards Ceremony

to be held in Cairns

Since their inception in 1992, the Heart Foundation Local Government Awards have

recognised and encouraged the role that local governments can play in developing

supportive environments for healthy living.

This year the Queensland Local Government Awards Ceremony is being held on

Monday 1 September at the Cairns International Hotel. Here, one exceptional initiative

from a Queensland local government will be honoured with the title of State Overall

Winner in the 2008 Awards.

In addition, several other outstanding initiatives from Queensland local governments will

receive State Category Winner and Highly Commended awards for their commitment to

healthy communities.

The Queensland category winners will also be entered into National judging, where they

compete for the titles of ‘National Category Winner’, ‘National Highly Commended’ and

‘National Overall Winner’. These National winners will be announced in early

December.
