Drivers urged to take care as extreme weather is
expected
VicRoads is urging all drivers to take care on the roads and avoid any unnecessary
travel as extreme weather is expected across the state for the next three days.
The weather conditions could have an impact on the roads and people are urged to
be aware and drive accordingly, VicRoads Director of Road User Services, Dean
Zabrieszach said.
The extreme weather may cause tree branches and other debris to blow on the
roads, so drivers are advised to take care and remain alert at all times, Mr
Zabrieszach said.
Expected high winds may also cause the speed limits on the West Gate Bridge to
be lowered or lanes to be closed. Drivers are advised to observe changed speed
limits and road conditions.
Drivers should also be aware that the hot weather may also affect traffic lights. In
the event of traffic lights being out, drivers should approach intersections with extra
care and remember to give way to vehicles on the right, Mr Zabrieszach said.
