State Trustees is calling for eligible community groups across Victoria to apply for funding
through its annual Community Grants program for 2010.
Each year, eligible Victorian community and not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply
to the State Trustees community grants program for a limited number of discretionary grants
of up to $5,000 to help establish or develop projects that support:
Older people
People living with a disability
People living with a mental illness
People coping with bereavement
State Trustees Managing Director, Mr Tony Fitzgerald, said State Trustees distributes
$40,000 each year through its community grants program, which is designed to support
organisations that are making a long-term difference in the community.
State Trustees looks after the financial affairs of many people who are unable to do so on
their own. Were proud to be able to give back to projects that help older people and people
with a disability, mental illness, or people coping with bereavement, he said.
Mr Fitzgerald said ten Victorian organisations were able to benefit from grants of up to
$5,000 for variety of worthy projects through last years program.
Last year State Trustees community grants program helped to provide shoes for the
homeless in the inner-city and booklets to help fathers cope with the death of a child in
Barwon Heads.
Older people in aged care facilities in Werribee and Portarlington will enjoy the physical and
emotional benefits that will come from the new gardens being built with the help of our
grants, Mr Fitzgerald said.
These are just some of the projects that State Trustees has been proud to support through
our community grants. We welcome applications from grass roots community organisations
as part of this years program, and hope it will prove just as successful, Mr Fitzgerald said.
