DIARY NOTE
FIREFIGHTERS CONVERGE ON TWEED HEADS FOR THE
2010 NSWFB STATE FIREFIGHTER CHAMPIONSHIPS
21 October 2010
From 23 -
28
October, around 500
firefighters from across NSW, Queensland, Victoria and New
Zealand will head to Tweed Heads for the bi-annual State Firefighting Championships, the one of the
NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) proudest and longest running traditions.
Over five days of competition, firefighters will showcase the skills and expertise modern firefighters
use every day, whether attacking a fire or responding to a major emergency.
More than 40 teams of firefighters will compete in 16 firefighting related events designed to test the
firefighting skills of the NSWFBs retained, or part-time, firefighters. This includes 12 teams from the
NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS), the Victorian Country
Fire Authority and the New Zealand Fire Service will also travel to Tweed Heads to compete.
The 2008 State Champions, Nowra Fire Brigade, will be out to retain its title, however the team from
Kelso will be hard to beat after consistently solid performances at regional Championship titles during
2009-10.
