CFA response to Tatong incident 10 January 2010
CFA is saddened to confirm the death of a member whilst on active
duty just after 6:30am today.
At this time we cannot release details of the members involved.
We can confirm that a CFA tanker was involved in a road accident at
Tatong on route to a fire in the North East of Victoria.
Five CFA volunteers were in the tanker. One member has been
confirmed deceased, two members are in a serious condition and have
been air lifted to hospitals in Melbourne.
Two other members have been taken to a regional hospital.
We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of the victims
involved.
A death of a member bears heavily on the broader CFA family,
including brigade members.
The Victoria Police and the State Coroner will be enquiring into this
tragic accident.
CFA will also conduct a full investigation.
