WOUNDED SPECIAL FORCES SOLDIERS RETURN TO DUTY

The two Special Forces soldiers wounded in a road-side bomb attack on Tuesday in

southern Afghanistan have been released from hospital.

The soldiers were wounded when their vehicle was struck by an Improvised

Explosive Device (IED) that killed Signaller Sean McCarthy.

The two soldiers have returned to their unit and are conducting light duties. For

medical-in-confidence reasons the nature of their injuries will not be disclosed.

Any questions relating to the condition of the Coalition national wounded in the same

incident should be directed to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

Planning for the repatriation of Signaller McCarthy is well advanced. A ceremony

will be conducted to allow members of the Special Operations Task Group to farewell

their colleague. Defence will advise details of the ceremony when they are confirmed.

Repatriation of Signaller McCarthy to Australia is anticipated early next week.
