SOLDIER OF THE FUTURE LUNCH TIME BRIEFING
It is my great pleasure to invite you to a ration-pack lunch where Defence will
showcase the latest technologies for Australian soldiers.
The Defence Science & Technology Organisation (DSTO), Army and the
Defence Materiel Organisation have a strong partnership in developing and
testing capabilities that enhance the protection and performance of our
soldiers.
The latest in soldier system advances will be on show at the lunch including
next-generation camouflage uniforms, modular combat body armour, ballistics
eye and hearing protection, personal role radios and a sophisticated thermal
imaging rifle sight.
A highlight of the briefing will be the opportunity to taste the combat rations
used by Australian soldiers in the field. Also on display will be a prototype
ration pack specially developed by DSTO for soldiers operating in hot
climates. This pack includes a unique non-melting chocolate bar.
The luncheon event will be held in the Senate Alcove (Level 2) starting at 12
noon on Thursday 29 May.
I hope you will take the opportunity to view the results of research programs
that are being undertaken to raise the level of protection and performance for
our troops.
