RETURN HOME OF MTF-1 


WHAT:

Around 80 members of  Mentoring Task Force – One (MTF-1) will be reunited with

family and friends as they return to Brisbane after an 8 month deployment to Uruzgan

Province, Afghanistan.  


WHERE: 

Arrivals Hall, Brisbane International Airport, Eagle Farm. 


WHEN:

Thursday, 28th October, 2010 at 12.45pm.  




Background:


MTF-1 is a combined contingent from Brisbane-based 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, 2

nd

/14th

Light Horse Regiment, 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment, 1st Field Regiment, 139th Signals Squadron and

7th Combat Service Support Battalion. 

Approx 800 personnel left in January 2010 to conduct an 8 month deployment with MTF-1 to conduct

mentoring, reconstruction and security operations in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan. 

MTF-1 was tasked with delivering training to the 4th Brigade of the Afghan National Army (ANA) with

the view of equipping the ANA soldiers with the skills and experience to conduct their own security

operations.
