REPATRIATION OF FLYING OFFICER MICHAEL HERBERT

AND PILOT OFFICER ROBERT CARVER 


WHAT: 

Still imagery and vision of the Repatriation ceremony for Flying

Officer Michael Herbert and Pilot Officer Robert Carver, Noi Bai

airfield, Hanoi. 



WHEN:

Sunday 30 August at approximately 5.30 pm


HOW:

Vision will be fed to television networks at Parliament House,

Canberra.  Still imagery will be available on the Defence website at



BACKGROUND:

On Sunday 30 August, Flying Officer Herbert and Pilot Officer Carver’s remains will

be formally handed over during a ceremony at Noi Bai airfield, Hanoi. 


Flying Officer Michael Herbert and Pilot Officer Robert Carver, from No. 2

Squadron, were lost with their Canberra bomber on 3 November 1970 while returning

to base following a mission.  


Flying Officer Herbert and Pilot Officer Carver were Australia’s last missing ADF

members from the Vietnam War. They will be welcomed home in a ceremony at

RAAF Base Richmond on Monday 31 August.
