Ramp ceremony for 2nd Commando Regiment fallen


What:

Ramp Ceremony to mark the return home of Private Tim Aplin, Private

Ben Chuck, and Private Scott Palmer of the 2nd Commando Regiment

(2Cdo).  


When:

Saturday, 26 June 2010.


Where:

RAAF Base Richmond.



Background:  


A ramp ceremony will be held at RAAF Base Richmond to honour the arrival home

of Private Tim Aplin, Private Ben Chuck, and Private Scott Palmer of the 2nd

Commando Regiment (2Cdo). The soldiers died as a result of an incident involving an

International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) helicopter on 21 June.  


Minister for Defence, Senator John Faulkner; Louise Markus, Shadow Minister for

Veteran’s Affairs; The Chief of Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston;

The Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Ken Gillespie and Special Operations

Commander Australia, Major General Tim McOwan will attend the Ramp Ceremony.   


Media note: 


Due to the protected identity status of the personnel involved in the ceremony,

media will not be able to attend this solemn event.  


A military camera team will provide pool vision to Channel 7 for distribution to

metropolitan television stations after 5pm. Please contact Dan Wheelahan, Regional
