RAAF PC-9/A AIRCRAFT TO CONDUCT FLYPAST OVER THE

AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL



WHAT:

Two Royal Australian Air Force Pilatus PC-9/A aircraft

from the Forward Air Control Development Unit

(FACDU), based at RAAF Williamtown, will conduct a

fly

past of the Australian War Memorial (AWM) in

Canberra, to coincide with the dedication of the Forward

Air Controllers’ Plaque in the grounds of the AWM.



The FACDU provides training in forward air control –

directing the action of military aircraft engaged in close

air support of ground forces.  Forward Air Controllers

have served in various conflicts since World War II.


WHERE & WHEN:

Australian War Memorial, Canberra,

Monday, 28 April 2008, at approximately 10am.



The aircraft will fly from south to north, over Lake

Burley Griffin, passing over the Western Courtyard of

the AWM.


The aircraft will be flying at around 250 knots and

between 500-1500 feet.


WHO:

Contact for the FACDU fly past is the Commanding

Officer of FACDU, Squadron Leader Pete Mitchell.
