QLD RESERVISTS HOME FROM SOLOMON ISLANDS
WHAT:
Return to Australia of Army Reservists from Rotation 15 of Operation
Anode.
WHO:
More than 40 Brisbane and regional South Queensland Army
Reservists return from deployment in the Solomon Islands.
WHERE:
Domestic terminal, Brisbane Airport.
WHEN:
Thursday, 7 August 2008, 3.15pm.
Background:
More than 40 Army Reservists from Brisbane and regional South Queensland will
return home on Thursday, 7 August 2008, after a six-month deployment to Solomon
Islands.
The soldiers and officers were part of a contingent of over 100 soldiers and officers
from Queenslands 11 Brigade which, along with its Victorian counterparts, was
involved in a successful mission that has reinforced the relevance and capability the
Army Reserve provides to the Australian Defence Force.
The Army Reservists took time out of their civilian lives to work with local
authorities in helping maintain peace and stability in Solomon Islands. It was a
fantastic opportunity for Army Reservists to deploy on operations and the soldiers
will receive the Australian Service Medal for their service.
South Queensland soldiers are from Brisbane, Wide Bay, Sunshine and Gold Coast,
and Toowoomba regions.
Media are invited to attend the return, and interviews with soldiers can be arranged on
request.
