Australia's Defence Minister, Senator John Faulkner, today laid a wreath at

the tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington. 

 

The Minister’s host for the event was the Superintendent of Arlington National

Cemetery, Mr John C. Metzler Jnr. 

 

The Minister paid formal respects to the sacrifice of America's veterans in

foreign wars by placing a wreath before the Tomb of the Unknowns.

 

During his visit to the US he has met with his counterpart Secretary for

Defense, Dr Robert Gates, US National Security Adviser General Jim Jones

and other US Defense representatives.
