New resources to help Defence families
The Minister for Veterans Affairs and Minister for Defence Personnel, Alan Griffin,
today announced that Defence families can now go online to access information
about the range of services available to them and the military lifestyle.
Mr Griffin said, The Partners in Defence information package will effectively provide
a one stop shop for many of the day-to-day questions faced by Defence families.
The partners and families of Defence members will be able to access information on
the military lifestyle, benefits, entitlements, services and support programs that are
available to them.
Through plain language explanations and extensive use of hyperlinks, the package
will assist families to navigate their way more readily to the information they need
such as financial management tips, dealing with deployments, housing and removals,
employment, education and childcare. Mr Griffin said.
Originally launched in 2006 by the Defence Community Organisation, the Partners in
Defence package was only available as a CD-ROM and DVD resource kit.
Mr Griffin said, The online launch of Partners in Defence will vastly increase its
audience reach, bringing important information into the homes of Defence families all
over the country at their convenience.
Defence families will be able to more easily access information relevant to them
which in turn will increase their understanding of Defence services, the military way
of life and its impact on families.
The online Partners in Defence package will continue to assist Defence families to
balance the unique requirements of military service with family life, Mr Griffin said.
