NAVY IS ‘SEA-ING THINGS’


What:

Navy Headquarters Tasmania is to provide support for the launch of ‘Sea

Things’, a project sponsored by the Australia Council for the Arts.


When:

11:00am on Thursday, 1 October 2009.


Where:

Constitution Dock, Hobart.


Who:

Commander Anthony Vine, RAN, Commanding Officer Navy

Headquarters Tasmania, will be available for interview.


Background:

‘Sea Things’ is an innovative arts project in which a duffle bag of Maritime Poetry

will be transferred around the country, as far north as Thursday Island, with

local poets contributing work at each port.  The project culminates at a ceremony to

be held in Sydney.


‘Sea Things’ will be launched at Constitution Dock and the Royal Australian Navy’s

work-boat, AWB Grampus will take the duffle bag on the first leg of its journey.
