NATIONAL PARADE TO MARK THE END OF OPERATION

CATALYST


What:

National parade to mark the end of Operation CATALYST

(Iraq)


Where: 

Parade Ground, Australian War Memorial Treloar Crescent,

Campbell ACT 


When: 

2 pm Saturday, 21 November 2009. 

Media should arrive no later than 1.45 pm for briefing.  Preset

media positions will apply.


Who:

More than 300 current and former ADF veterans and Defence

civilians who served on Operation CATALYST in Iraq from

July 2003 to July 2009. 

Media

arrangements:

ABC TV is doing an outside broadcast of this event . The ABC

will be providing head on feed pool of VIP speeches to all

networks at 1530 through Parliament House. If other media

outlets wish to record the broadcast they can do so off air

between 1400 and 1500.



An overlay compile of vision from Operation CATALYST will

be sent to Parliament House networks this afternoon.


Interviews:

Some members of the Australia Defence Force who served in

Iraq will be available for media interviews after the conclusion

of the parade.


Media passes:

Media will need to carry passes at all times


Parking: 

Parking will be available in a designated car park at the rear of

the Australian War Memorial. Parking passes will be available

for collection for media outlets from ABC Parliament House on

Friday Nov 20th between 10am and 2pm.


The parade will mark the conclusion of Operation CATALYST and will recognise the

contribution of ADF and Defence personnel to the stabilization and rehabilitation of

Iraq.

The parade will feature Australia’s Federation Guard, the Band of the Royal Military

College of Australia and the Royal Australian Navy Band, marching from Anzac

Parade onto the Memorial’s Parade Ground. They will be followed by Navy, Army

and Air Force contingents, Defence civilians and ex-ADF members in a march-past.
