Background:


The annual award is given for the most outstanding contribution

to Defence by an Australian research scientist.  


This year’s award winner is being recognised for his technical

excellence in extending the life cycle of Australia’s combat

aircraft. With his innovative solutions he has not only delivered

huge cost savings to Defence he has reinforced Australia’s

reputation as a world leader in aircraft life extension technology. 


The Minister will also present international awards to Australian

scientists for their achievements in defence research while

collaborating with their overseas colleagues from the USA, UK,

Canada and NZ.
