MEDIA ALERT


ANZAC COMMEMORATIVE SERVICES IN EAST TIMOR



What:

The Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, the Hon. Warren

Snowdon MP, will take part in Anzac Day commemorative services

in East Timor.


Joining the Minister will be Australian Ambassador to East Timor,

Mr Peter Heyward, and the Commander of the International

Stabilisation Force/Combined Joint Task Force 631, Brigadier Bill

Sowry.


When:

5:50am Dawn Service at Camp Phoenix; and


10.00am Service at Dare Memorial site, Saturday, 25 April 2009.


Where:

Camp Phoenix and Dare Memorial, East Timor.



Background info:

This year marks 10 years since Australian and New Zealand forces served in

East Timor as part of the International Force for East Timor (INTERFET) to

restore peace and security after it voted for independence from Indonesia.
