HMAS Success Commission of Inquiry
What:
A public hearing of the HMAS Success Commission of Inquiry.
When:
10am AEST, Tuesday 1 June 2010. Media are requested to arrive no
later than 9.45am AEST.
Where:
Level 11, Defence Plaza, 270 Pitt Street, Sydney.
Please note: No parking will be available.
Due to the schedules of witnesses, an early hearing of the HMAS Success
Commission of Inquiry will be held on 1 June. Following this hearing, it is intended
that a public directions hearing will be held on 9 June with public witness hearings
recommencing 21 June 2010.
The Commission of Inquiry is examining alleged incidents of unacceptable behaviour,
as defined in applicable Defence Instructions, of the crew onboard HMAS Success,
that were brought to the attention of command between March and May 2009. Issues
associated with the subsequent management of such allegations and of personnel
allegedly involved will also be examined.
The Commission of Inquiry will generally conduct its hearings in public. The
Commission of Inquiry President may restrict some aspects of the hearing for
operational security reasons and in the interests of those who may be affected by the
Commission of Inquiry.
