DEFENCE TRAINING FOR YOUNG INDIGENOUS

AUSTRALIANS


What:       Launch of the Newcastle Defence Indigenous Pre Recruitment

Course (IPRC).

Ray Watt Pavilion, University of Newcastle, Wirra Crescent 

(off University Drive) Callaghan.

Who:

Sharon Grierson, the member for Newcastle will launch, on behalf

of the Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, the Hon.

Warren Snowdon MP, the Newcastle Defence Indigenous Pre

Recruitment Course. The launch will commence with an official

welcome to country and a presentation by local aboriginal dancers.


Course participants will be welcomed and receive an IPRC

welcome pack.


The IPRC focuses on pre-employment training, physical fitness, team

building, interview skills and preparation for the Australian Defence Force

recruiting process; provided by a local provider, Alliance People Solutions and

funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace

Relations.  

Participants will also visit Defence bases and establishments, recruit schools

and attend a week long Indigenous Leadership program in Canberra,

conducted by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and

Indigenous Affairs.
