Commission of Inquiry into the death of Private Stephen Wilson


What:


Public hearings will commence for the Commission of Inquiry (COI)

into any Defence-related circumstances surrounding the death of

Private Stephen Wilson.


When: 

10am Wednesday, 2 June, 2010.  Media to arrive no later than 9.45 am.

 

Where:

Fairbairn Functions Centre, 49 Laverton Avenue, Fairbairn.

Please note: Paid parking is available across from the Functions

Centre.


The COI will inquire into any Defence-related circumstances surrounding the death of

Private Stephen Wilson. The purpose of a COI is to obtain information to inform

military decision making so that, if necessary, improvements can be made to work

practices and procedures. 


Mr David Loadman has been appointed as the Commission of Inquiry President (COI

President). The COI will generally conduct its hearings in public. The COI President

may restrict some aspects of the hearing for operational security reasons and in the

interests of those who may be affected by the COI.
