COMBET SIGNS GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN DEED WITH

THALES

Greg Combet, Minister for Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science, today

signed a Global Supply Chain Deed with Thales.

“The Deed is part of the Government’s Global Supply Chain (GSC) program,

which uses the leverage of the Defence Materiel Organisation’s major

equipment acquisitions to extend opportunities for Australian companies to

access the international market place,” Mr Combet said.

“The Deed actively facilitates opportunities for Australian industry to compete

in Thales’ global supply chains and those of the company’s major supply

partners. This will greatly benefit Australian defence industry, especially small

and medium sized enterprises.

“Thales internationally is a leading Defence company with markets world-

wide, and the potential benefits for competitive Australian companies to

become part of its global supply chain are enormous.

“The GSC Deed program helps smaller Australian companies access

opportunities that they may have never been exposed to without the

knowledge and access that is delivered under this program.

“Working through the international primes such as Thales to set up units to

actively promote Australian companies will expand the capacity of Australian

industry to support the Australian Defence Force.

“It will also benefit the international companies we deal with by improving their

competitiveness,” Mr Combet said.

Mr Combet congratulated Thales for their part in this initiative and their

commitment to supporting local Australian industry.
