Chief of the Defence Force Conference - Counterinsurgency and Stabilisation
in the 21st Century
What:
Media are invited to attend the opening of the Chief of the Defence Force Conference on
counterinsurgency and stabilisation, and the keynote address to be delivered by
Lieutenant General John Mulholland, the Commanding General, US Army Special
Operations Command.
Where:
Australian Defence College, Canberra ACT.
When:
08:45 am 10:00 am on Monday, 1 November 2010. Media are asked to gather at 8:30
am.
Background:
The Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, will host the inaugural Chief of the
Defence Force Conference at the Australian Defence College next week.
Media are invited to attend the opening by the Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus
Houston, and the keynote address by Lieutenant General John Mulholland, Commanding General, US
Army Special Operations Command.
The inaugural conference entitled Beyond Asymmetry: Counterinsurgency and Stabilisation in the 21st
Century provides Australian Defence Force officers and civilians, as well as officials from Australian
Government departments, Non Government Organisations and academics the opportunity to exchange
ideas on counterinsurgency, and to gain a greater understanding of the challenges that shape the security
environment.
International speakers from India, Pakistan, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States will
address the conference.
The keynote address entitled US Special Operations and Irregular Conflict since 9/11 will be delivered
by Lieutenant General John Mulholland, Commanding General, US Army Special Operations Command.
