Australian defence companies benefiting from Rudd Governments
Global Supply Chain program
Greg Combet, Minister for Defence Materiel and Science, today announced that
Australias defence industry is continuing to win work from international primes through
the Global Supply Chain program with a local company, Production Parts winning work
to supply rubber pedal kits for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
I offer my congratulations to Melbourne-based Production Parts Pty Ltd on winning
this work. Production Parts won the hotly contested competition over several
international suppliers, and this will place them in a sound position to compete for
more opportunities in the future Mr Combet said.
The contract provides Production Parts with options for continued work on future
orders Boeing may receive from the U.S. Navy or international customers.
Production Parts was an early participant in the Global Supply Chain program and
was identified as a potential Boeing supplier through Boeings Office of Australian
Industry Capability.
Boeing established the Office of Australian Industry Capability (OAIC) in cooperation
with the Defence Materiel Organisation to assist qualified Australian defence suppliers
with entry into Boeings global supply chain.
The OAIC identifies bid opportunities for qualified Australian SMEs and provides
aerospace focused supplier training and mentoring.
This win for Production Parts demonstrates not only the global competitiveness of
Australian companies but the ongoing success of the Governments Global Supply
Chain program Mr Combet said.
The Governments Global Supply Chain program has already provided Australian
industry with contracts totalling over $50 million.
