Army pilots conduct helicopter training over Canberra



What:

Four Black Hawk helicopters will fly over Canberra area as part of a

training exercise. 


When:

Between 2.00pm and 5.00pm, Wednesday, 18 August, 2010.


Where:

AFP training facility at Majura and the Symonston area. The Black

Hawks will conduct multiple ‘approach and hover’ manoeuvres from

different directions at both locations.


Why:

The advanced flying training course for junior pilots and aircrew will

ensure that they are well practised for flying in all conditions across

urban and rural areas. 


Executive Officer of the 6th Aviation Regiment, Major Paul Lewis

said the training had been designed to have as little impact on residents

as possible but some noise would be noticeable. 


“The Army thanks the public for their patience and cooperation while

this necessary and essential training is undertaken,” said Major Lewis.
