ARMY IN CONCERT 2009

The Band of the Royal Military College, Duntroon and the Australian Army Band

Kapooka will join forces at the Canberra Theatre on the 19th August 2009 at 7.30pm

for “Army in Concert”. All proceeds will go to aid Canberra Legacy.

The Canberra Theatre stage will come alive to the sound of 60 musicians, along with

the Army’s newest recruit, one of Australia’s most versatile and talented entertainers,

Michael Cormick. Tickets to this special event are $50.00 general admission and

$40.00 for concession and groups of 12 or more. Money raised will aid Canberra

Legacy and assist them to continue their work caring for the families of deceased

veterans.

Michael Cormick has for many years established himself as one of the leading men of

Australian Musicals. He has appeared in The Rocky Horror Show, Cats, Joseph and

the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Grease, Eureka, Sunset Boulevard and the title

role in Beauty and the Beast. His international credits include roles in Phantom of the

Opera, Calamity Jane, Romeo & Juliet, Chess and Evita. He has performed in

concerts throughout Europe – including Rome, Paris, Edinburgh and Cyprus. His

television credits include Carols by Candlelight, City Homicide and the Terry Wogan

Show (BBC London). Michael has appeared as a guest performer in the Royal

Command performances of The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables in London,

the Australian Football League Grand Final, the official opening of Stadium Australia

and the opening of the Christmas Festival at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

The Bands will be under the musical direction of Major Geoff Grey and Major Jeff

Cocks. Both of these conductors have extensive experience working alongside many

fine vocalists.

Major Grey said “the opportunity for these proud and traditional Army Bands to work

alongside one of Australia’s leading men of the stage will be a special moment for

each musician and audience member. His breathtaking vocal ability will be worth the

price of the ticket”.

Canberra Legacy are very proud in their association with the Australian Army Band

Corps and know that all patrons who attend this event will have a memorable evening.
