AIR FORCE CELEBRATES 89 YEARS OF SERVICE
WHAT:
The Royal Australian Air Force will celebrate 89 years with a
commemorative service.
WHERE:
RAAF Memorial Grove (the corner of Federal Highway and
Majura Road, near the Hughie Edwards VC rest stop).
WHEN:
Wednesday 31 March, 11.00am.
WHO:
The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Support, the Hon Dr
Mike Kelly AM MP and the Chief of the Air Force, Air Marshal
Mark Binskin AM will attend.
Air Force has been a proud member of the Canberra community and
acknowledges the support it has received and the partnerships it has forged
during its time here. Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Binskin AM said the
anniversary enables us to thank the local community for their ongoing support
and encouragement.
The anniversary is also a time to reflect on the sacrifices and commitment of
its personnel throughout its history and to recognise the vital contributions Air
Force is making to current ADF operations in Australia and around the world.
Air Marshal Binskin emphasised that whilst the past 89 years provide Air
Force members past and present with much to be proud of, the future is
equally as exciting.
Weve got amongst the best pilots in the world, the best support teams and a
great spirit of service, built up over the last 89 years, Air Marshal Binskin
said.
The arrival of the first group of Super Hornets last week marked a new
chapter for Air Force and a major leap in air combat capability, he said.
