Teamwork Awards

Today, the Australian Defence Force launched the ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards and

according to Ken Given, Project Manager for the awards, they are expecting a huge response:

“Last year we handed out almost 6,000 awards to students at over 2,300 schools right across Australia.

“We are expecting excellent results again especially from the local community as there were many schools from

this area that signed up last year.  The result was that a large number of local students were rewarded for their

hard work.”

What are the ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards?

“The Awards started in 2006 and aim to recognise secondary school students who demonstrate leadership and

teamwork within both the school and the broader local community.

At the same time, they recognise students who display strong values, such as doing one’s best, respect for others

and “mateship”, values that are integral to Australian society.”

What’s the benefit of our local schools offering the ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards to their

students?

“The ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards provide an opportunity for the school and local community

to recognise students who give a lot of their time and effort to worthwhile organizations and support community

based projects.

“It offers the chance to say thanks to the students for their hard work.

How will students be recognised?

Each school may select one student from each of Years 10, 11 and 12 to receive an award.

Students in years 10, 11 and 12 will be recognised with awards of $100, $250 and $500 respectively, along with a

certificate of merit.
