City of Sydney Ranger Assaulted

A City of Sydney spokesperson said:
"The City of Sydney is offering every assistance to a ranger who was seriously assaulted this morning in Darlinghurst.

The attack is deeply distressing and concerning, as rangers are working men and women who are just trying to do their job.

We will ensure the ranger's wellbeing with the best medical treatment and access to counselling services if required.

The City would like to thank other rangers and emergency services who were on the scene within minutes and many members of the public who also rushed to help.

City of Sydney rangers are trained by external and nationally accredited trainers and taught to diffuse potentially troublesome situations. This usually involves adopting the 'walk away' policy, which is successful in most cases.

The City of Sydney is working closely with police and will conduct its investigation into the attack."
